The building at 5300 S. Dorchester Ave. will soon be home to a Wingstop after a year of vacancy.

HYDE PARK — National wing chain Wingstop is coming to Hyde Park, and is set to occupy the former Ribs ‘n’ Bibs barbeque joint.

Property owner Vernon Bradley confirmed Wingstop will move into the building at 5300 S. Dorchester Ave., saying a move to the neighborhood is “a good opportunity” for the chain.

Bradley said he could not provide an estimate for Wingstop’s opening, as the company still has to complete work inside the building.

A permit for renovations was granted Nov. 1.

The building has hosted two local restaurants in recent years, both of which shuttered with little warning.

Ribs ‘n’ Bibs closed suddenly in May 2014 after nearly 40 years in business. It was followed by the Hyde Park Taco Station, which opened in April 2016 and closed in January.
