CHICAGO — Three children were reunited with their dad after the car they were in was stolen late Sunday in West Rogers Park, police said.
At 11:20 p.m., a 49-year-old man left his Toyota Highlander running in the 3100 block of West Devon Avenue while his three children — a 16-year-old girl, 9-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl — were inside, police said.
Two men drove up in a Toyota Camry and one of them got out of the Camry, got into the Highlander and drove off with the kids, police said.
The man drove the Highlander to the 3500 block of West Devon Avenue, where he got out and got back into the Camry, police said. The two men drove away in the Camry.
The children weren’t injured and were reunited with their dad, police said.
Later, officers patrolling the area saw the Camry — which had also been stolen —at a gas station in the 4200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, police said. Four people were taken into custody, though the driver ran away.
Charges were pending.
