Spate Of West Loop Car Break-ins Leave Windows Smashed Throughout Neighborhood

The most recent incident happened in the 1200 block of West Washington Street between 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, police said.

WEST LOOP — Police are warning drivers to keep belongings in their trunk or away from view after a spate of car break-ins in the West Loop.

Over 10 days this month, thieves smashed rear car windows of vehicles throughout the neighborhood before taking things from inside, police said in a community alert.

The most recent incident happened in the 1200 block of West Washington Street between 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, police said.

The other incidents happened:

  • in the 1200 block of West Randolph Street between 7:40 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 10
  • in the 100 block of North Ada Street at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 
  • in the 100 block of North Willard Court between 8 p.m.- 10:50 p.m. on Dec. 6
  • in the 1300 block of West Randolph Street between 10:30 p.m.- 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 4
  • in the 1200 block of West Randolph Street at 10 p.m. on Dec. 3
  • in the 1200 block of West Randolph Street at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3
  • in the 1500 block of West Washington Street between 6:15 p.m.- 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 3
  • in the 1400 block of West Randolph Street between 7:10 p.m.- 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 2
  • in the 1300 block of West Randolph Street between 6:55 p.m.- 10 p.m. on Dec. 2
