BUCKTOWN — Fleet Fields, a public soccer field adjoining the 55-acre Lincoln Yards mega development, will remain open this winter.

Hours will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, weather permitting, through March 31.

Sterling Bay, the developer of Lincoln Yards and the owner of Fleet Fields, will maintain the soccer fields through the winter to meet the needs of community groups, spokesperson Julie Goudie said.

Fleet Fields opened in July. Since then, several local organizations have used the fields for programmed play.

In a press release, Andy Gloor, CEO of Sterling Bay, said the company has been “overwhelmed” by the community’s response to Fleet Fields.

“Chicagoans are tough and aren’t afraid to get out there and play even in cold temperatures, so we wanted to extend the enjoyment of the fields through the winter to accommodate demand,” he said.
