CHICAGO — PAWS Chicago hopes to find families for more than 100 dogs and cats this weekend.

The no-kill shelter is hosting its Holiday Adopt-a-Thon Friday through Sunday — making this the first year the event has gone for three days. Attendees will be able to meet and adopt cats, puppies, kittens and dogs who are in need of permanent homes.

Adoption is particularly needed during the holiday season because many shelters are understaffed during this time, meaning animals are more likely to be euthanized, according to a PAWS news release.

The Holiday Adopt-a-Thon is noon-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday at PAWS’ Lincoln Park Adoption Center, 1997 N. Clybourn Ave.

Information about PAWS’ requirements and fees for adoption is available online.
