UPTOWN — Wilson Avenue will turn into a winter wonderland Friday as the Winter Walk on Wilson returns to Uptown.
The free holiday event will return for its sixth year beginning at 5 p.m. along the Wilson Avenue commercial corridor from Clark Street to Sheridan Road. Businesses and organizations along the stretch of road will be giving out treats, hosting live music and providing holiday entertainment.
The Chicago Market space inside the historic Gerber Building at Broadway and Wilson will host for a number of the Winter Walk events, including a Holiday Pop-Up Market, pictures with “Panda Claus” and the Uptown Holiday Revue.
The Revue will feature performances by the Underscore Theatre Company, Playmakers Laboratory Theatre and Kuumba Lynx.
Thirteen businesses and organizations are participating, and the full list can be found here.
Live music will be provided by the Old Town School of Folk Music, Aloha Center Chicago, the Coffee Jazz Collective and many others, according to the event’s Facebook page.
Attendees of the Winter Walk will also be able to view Uptown’s massive Advent calendar, which has taken over the three-story facade of the building at 935 W. Wilson Ave.
An after party for the event will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at Nick’s On Wilson, 1140 W. Wilson Ave.
The Winter Walk is free and open to the public, though organizers are asking interested parties to RSVP to the event here. For more information on the event, click here.
