UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — A hookah bar is headed to the former home of Wicker Wash car wash in Ukrainian Village.
Kenneth Clair, an owner of The Lyons Den, said the hookah lounge will open next year at 2123 W. Division St., but would not elaborate on a potential opening date or other plans for the spot.
This week, a Facebook page for The Lyons Den shared photos of construction.

The business received a building permit on Nov. 22, Department of Building records show. Chicago Cityscape first reported the news.
Because the site does not require a zoning change, the business need not seek the approval of Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) or members of the Ukrainian Village Neighborhood Association.
According to city tobacco rules, the business did need a Special Use Permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals. The board approved a permit application for the hookah bar in June, city records show.
About a block west of the bustling Damen Avenue and Division Street intersection, Wicker Wash Hand Car Wash long occupied the storefront.

In 2013, Wicker Wash’s owner, Stephen Srichinda, and his brother, Joe Srichinda, transformed the car wash waiting room into Vape, a vaporizer and e-cigarette shop.

Both Vape and the car wash has since closed.
Cook County property records show the property itself is owned by Modena Properties, LLC, of Humble, Texas.
