AUBURN GRESHAM — The City of Chicago and St. Sabina Church will be hosting a gun buyback event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
People can turn in their firearms — no questions asked — at St. Sabina, 7800 S. Throop St. In return, they’ll get a $100 gift card for every gun they turn in, and a $10 gift card for every BB gun, air gun or replica gun.
“A reduction in firearms on the streets will bring about a reduction in firearms crimes,” said St. Sabina pastor the Rev. Michael Pfleger. “Our city has been ravaged by gun violence and we must do something to change that.”
The church held a previous gun buyback in April.
