WEST RIDGE — The neighborhood Aldi store will reopen Thursday after undergoing a renovation and one customer will win a year of free Aldi produce.
The Aldi at 6220 N. California Ave. closed in September for renovations. During its re-opening celebration this week, the first 100 customers will be eligible for Aldi’s golden ticket giveaway.
Each of the first 100 customers will be given a gift card, with the amounts ranging from $10 to $100 in Aldi store credit. One person will win a year’s supply of Aldi product, a value of more than $500, a store spokesperson said.
A ribbon cutting at the new store will be held at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, with the golden ticket giveaway starting after that, according to the grocery chain.
Renovations to the West Ridge Aldi include an overhaul of its layout and a more modern design, according to the grocery store chain. More shelf space and refrigeration have been added to the store as well.
The renovations are part of a nearly $2 billion investment in Aldi stores across the U.S., with $180 million being spent in over 130 stores in the Chicago area, Aldi Batavia Division Vice President Laura Branneman said in a statement.
The chain on Oct. 31 unveiled a redesigned store in Belmont Cragin.
