LINCOLN SQUARE — A pedestrian was critically injured Thursday when an elderly driver backed her car into him before crashing into a building.
An 89-year-old woman driving a 2002 Hyaundai Elantra was backing out of a parking spot at McDonald’s, 4844 N. Lincoln Ave., around 2:35 p.m. Thursday when she hit a 28-year-old man, police said.
She then crashed her car into an unoccupied commercial building next door. Her car stopped when she hit an “I-beam” inside the building, police said.
The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital and was last listed in critical condition. Police were still investigating the crash.
