CHICAGO — The city’s shelter is letting cat owners adopt felines for free all this month.
Chicago Animal Care and Control has dubbed the effort Meowloween: It’ll waive adoption fees for all cats and kittens so long as they’re 6 months or older and for bonded pairs throughout October.
Those looking to adopt a pet can also meet costumed dogs and cats Oct. 26-27 as parts of the shelter’s Howloween event. The agency will waive its adoption fees for all animals so long as they’re 6 months or older and for bonded pairs
Typical adoption requirements still apply: You need to be 18 or older, bring a photo ID and proof of address to the shelter, bring a lease or note from your landlord if you’re a renter and bring your pet vaccination records if you are already have another furry family member.
Animal Control also prefers all family members meet the animal they’re looking to adopt.
Information about adoptable cats, dogs and other animals is available online. The shelter is at 2741 S. Western Ave.
