WEST LOOP — More than a year after Jaipur closed its West Loop restaurant, the beloved Indian spot is coming back to Randolph Restaurant Row.
On Tuesday, Jaipur owners announced they would be reopening at 738 W. Randolph St.
In a Facebook post, owners said a soft opening would be “coming soon.” It will include non-alcoholic beverages and popular dishes including garlic cheese naan, paneer burji and kerala chicken.
Jaipur will be located at the former Ronero and Esco Bar near the corner of Halsted and Randolph streets. The Latin American restaurant and cocktail bar previously closed at the location in December 2018, according to Eater.
Last year, owners decided to close the previous location at 847 W. Randolph St. after a decade.
Jaipur general manager Heather Santos said the restaurant’s lease was set to expire. Faced with a rent hike, owners Hiten and Shetwa Bharwad decided not to renew the lease.
Jaipur routinely made Michelin’s Bib Gourmand list. Most recently, Jaipur appeared on the 2018 list that recognizes restaurants that offer quality cuisine “for a maximum price of $40.” In that listing, Michelin praised Jaipur’s affordable full-service lunch “that brings the buffet to your table in a parade of hammered copper katoris.”
