WEST LOOP — The developers behind two separate hotel proposals are hosting back-to-back community meetings this week in the West Loop.
Chicago-based Marc Realty and New York-based DDG Partners are set to unveil plans for a 16-story Standard hotel at 1234 W. Randolph St. at a 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday at Catalyst Ranch, 656 W. Randolph St.
The following day, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, North Park Ventures will pitch plans for a 23-story hotel at 800 W. Lake St., according to the West Loop Community Organization.
To make way for the 16-story, 259-room hotel, developers aim to convert a property that now houses a dairy supply facility next to City Winery. The plan would include ground-floor retail and an open plaza.
In April, a team of investors unveiled plans to build the Standard Hotel. Those developers initially set out to build a 23-story hotel with 289 hotel rooms, a rooftop bar and a pool, according to a zoning application filed earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the 23-story hotel plan was initially planned as a 19-story hotel at the corner of Lake and Halsted, according to zoning applications. The site currently houses Paddy O’Fegan’s, an Irish pub and restaurant.
Other hotel developers have also set their sights on the booming West Loop.
Most recently, City Council approved architecture firm’s Hartshorne Plunkard plan for a 12-story hotel at 1043 W. Fulton Market and a six-story office building at 1041 W. Fulton Market St. The two-building plan calls for first-floor retail and 15 parking spaces.
In July, F&F Realty and FitzGerald Associates Architects pitched plans for a 20-story, 199-room Marriott hotel at 920 W. Lake St.
Huizenga Capital Management aims to build a 12-story luxury hotel at 1025 W. Fulton Market, according to Crain’s. LG Development is also pitching a 187-room, 17-story hotel at 215 N. May St, according to the publication.
The West Loop is also home to Ace Hotel and Soho House.
