LOGAN SQUARE — Five new Chicago restaurants have earned a coveted Michelin Star.
The Michelin Guide released its 2020 list of starred restaurants in Chicago on Thursday. Alinea — long considered one of the best restaurants in the world — remains the city’s only three-star restaurant, while Acadia, Oriole and Smyth all have two stars.
Twenty-one other restaurants received one of the highly coveted stars, including five newcomers to the list: Kikkō, Mako, Next, Omakase Yume and Yūgen. All of the new restaurants are in the West Loop.
“Our inspectors are especially impressed by the high-end Japanese cuisine available in the West Loop,” says Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides, in a news release. “We have five new one-star restaurants in the 2020 Michelin Guide Chicago, each of which demonstrates a fine attention to detail and serves high-quality, top-notch cuisine.”
