WEST TOWN — Are you curious or confused about Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s ideas for fixing Chicago’s $839 million budget gap?
Ald. Daniel La Spata (1st) wants you to attend his free informational event next week.
From 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, La Spata and his staff will explain the ins and outs of city budgeting at Wells Community Academy High School, 936 N. Ashland Ave.
“Our goal at this event is to discuss efforts to make the city budget more efficient, potential revenue sources that could help improve the city’s fiscal situation and visions of how we can use the budget to invest in our communities,” 1st Ward staffer Nick Zettel said.
Chicago is in deep financial trouble as it faces an $839 million budget gap and “limited” solutions, Lightfoot has said.
Before she submits her budget proposal to City Council on Oct. 16 to try to tackle it, Lightfoot wants to hear residents’ ideas for how to get out of this mess.
You can also share your budget priorities by completing this online survey through Sept. 30.
