WEST TOWN — Both lanes of the Grand Avenue bridge over the Chicago River will be closed during the day from Sept. 16-27 due to emergency repairs, Ald. Daniel La Spata (1st) said.
Crews will be replacing beams on the bridge, forcing the closure for car traffic. One sidewalk will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists, however, said Susan Hofer, a spokesperson for the Chicago Dept. of Transportation.
Commuters are encouraged to take a detour via the Chicago Avenue bridge. See the map below for more details.
