Does Your Roof Or Porch Need Repairing? The City May Be Able To Help

Residents can apply to participate in a one-day lottery next week.

City grants are available for homeowners in need of assistance for roof and porch repairs.

ENGLEWOOD — Looking to fix your roof or porch but need some cash to do it?

Income-eligible homeowners can register next week for the city’s roof and porch lottery.

The one-day lottery will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12. Residents may apply online or call 311.

Individuals and families making no more than 80 percent of the area median income are eligible, and work is limited to roof and porch repairs.

The income limits are:

1) 1-person household: $49,950

2) 2-person: $57,050

3) 3-person: $64,200

4) 4-person: $77,050

5) 5-person: $82,750

The lottery drawing is scheduled to take place in later October at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., with results posted online the following week.
