UPTOWN — One of the city’s biggest LGBTQ event planners is taking over Friday nights at a new Uptown nightclub.

A Queer Pride, a collective of LGBTQ nightlife professionals, will start its latest residency Friday at Le Nocturne, 4810 N. Broadway. The group works to create queer-friendly spaces in bars and clubs around town, along with organizing Pride events and inclusivity training.

To kick off weekly events at Le Nocturne, Gavin Rayna Russom of LCD Soundsytem will perform a DJ set along with Chicago DJs Cqqchifruit and La Spacer and rappers Cae Monae and KC Ortiz.

The Friday event is also a fundraiser and proceeds will go to La Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement, a national organization that advocates for LGBTQ people with an emphasis on Latino communities.

Immigrant rights activist Jennicet Gutierrez will also make an appearance as a special headlining guest. Gutierrez is a founding member of La Familia and advocates for trans men and women detained over their immigration status. In 2015, she was honored by Out magazine for her work in the community.

Throughout the coming weeks, A Queer Pride will have dedicated performers depending on the Friday of the month.

Headliners will include Nina Bonina Brown of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Bronx rapper Maliibu Miitch and more. LezBe Events, Chicago event planners focused on queer women, will also call Le Nocturne home on future Fridays.
