Thief Snatching Phones At Blue Line Stations On Near West Side, Police Warn

The most recent theft happened at 7:30 p.m. Sunday near the Kedzie station, police said.

The Western Avenue station is located on the Near West Side.

NEAR WEST SIDE — Police are warning CTA riders after people have reported their phones were snatched by a thief on the Near West Side.

In four separate incidents this month, a person stole a phone by force before fleeing Blue Line stations on the Near West Side, police said in a community alert.

The most recent incident happened at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of South Kedzie Avenue near the Kedzie station, police said.

The other thefts happened at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13  in the 500 block of South Pulaski Road near the the Pulaski station; 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9 in the 500 block of South Kedzie Avenue near the Kedzie station; and between 9 and 10 a.m. Aug. 9 in the 500 block of South Western Avenue near the Western station, police said.
