CHICAGO — Police are looking for the driver of a red and black Dodge Ram 1500 truck involved in a fatal hit-and-run earlier this month in Burnside.

The crash happened at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 3. A 54-year-old man was walking in the 9400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when a driver hit him under a viaduct, according to a Chicago Police community alert sent out late Thursday.

The 54-year-old man died from his injuries. He was identified as Mark Dandridge, of the 700 block of East 92nd Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office records. An autopsy showed he died from multiple injuries in an accident.

The driver was in a red and black Dodge Ram 1500, possibly from 1993-2002, police said. The car had black rims, black trim on the bottom and a black grille, which were possibly custom-painted.

The car might have had an Illinois B-truck license that ended with “Z,” police said. The driver was described as a black man who was 60-65 years old with gray hair, police said. He wore a green shirt and black-framed glasses.

The truck was last seen going east on 95th Street from Cottage Grove Avenue.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call police at 312-745-4521.
