PORTAGE PARK — A man riding a motorcycle died Thursday morning after crashing into a minivan in Portage Park.

Around 9:15 a.m., the driver of a minivan was headed west on Berenice Avenue. Traffic was stopped when the driver of the minivan started to cross onto Cicero Avenue in the southbound lane, police said.

Witnesses told police the man on the motorcycle then “t-boned” the minivan.

“The driver of the motorcycle, a 47-year-old male who was wearing a helmet, was lying in the street when officers arrived,” Roberto Garduno said, a police spokesperson.

The driver of the minivan, a 68-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 3-year-old girl sitting in car seat, were not injured.

The motorcyclist was transported to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.
