DOWNTOWN — Is a trip to the Field Museum on your summer to-do list?

Starting Aug. 14, Wednesdays at the museum are free for Illinois residents.

Basic admission — which is normally $24 for adults, $17 for kids 3-11 years old and $21 for students and seniors — is free.

Ticketed exhibitions and 3D movies still carry a charge, but Illinois residents can upgrade to an all-access pass for $20 on free days. Those passes usually cost $38 for Illinois adults, $27 for kids and $33 for students and seniors.

The museum at 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last admission is at 4 p.m.
