WEST TOWN — Michelin-starred pastry chef Aya Fukai has brought her rolling pin to West Town with a new bakery called “Aya Pastry.”
Fukai, who has also been nominated for a James Beard Award, opened her bakery over the weekend and will host a series of weekly pop-ups from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Saturday in August.
During the pop-ups, pastries, cakes, breads and more will be available at Aya Pastry, 1332 W. Grand Ave.
With 72-hour advance notice, online ordering is available at ayapastry.com.
Fukai won Eater’s National Pastry Chef of the Year award in 2016, was nominated in 2017 for James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef and won the Tribune’s Pastry Chef of the Year award in 2018, according to Aya Pastry’s website.
Aya Pastry’s baked goods can already be found in restaurants, cafes and grocery stores across Chicago.
