ENGLEWOOD — A 23 year-old man was shot dead near his Englewood home Saturday afternoon, a murder in broad daylight just a block away from where two mothers were killed a week ago.
Calvin J. Seay, 23, was leaving his home on the 7300 block of South Stewart on his way to work at the Chicago Park District.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, witnesses say his killer got out of a silver Chevrolet, walked up to Seay and shot him in the head and chest.
Seay was transported to University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:55 p.m.
Saturday’s murder happened a block away from the murders of Chantell Grant and Andrea Stoudemire one week ago. Police said the killer of those women, who both helped with anti-violence work at the same corner, was in a black SUV.
The police have no one in custody in the shootings. Detectives are still investigating.
