CHICAGO — A thief has stolen from Near North Side drivers at least three times in the last two weeks, police said.
The thief walked up to the driver’s side of the cars, opened the car door or reached through an open window and then stole items from the car, according to a Chicago Police community alert.
The thief ran off afterward.
The thefts occurred:
- in the afternoon of July 24 in the 200 block of East Grand Avenue
- in the afternoon of July 25 in the first block of East Illinois Street
- Friday afternoon in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue
The thief was described as a boy or man who was 17-20 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall and 130-150 pounds, police said.
