Downtown CTA Riders Being Punched, Threatened By Robbers On Trains, Police Say

The most recent robbery happened Saturday in the first block of West Jackson Boulevard.

DOWNTOWN — Robbers have punched or threatened CTA train riders at least five times in recent weeks Downtown.

One to three teen boys or men threatened victims, hit them and then took items from the their hands or pockets during the robberies, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The robberies all occurred on CTA trains or platforms.

The robberies occurred:

  • 5:22 p.m. July 18 in the 1100 block of South State Street
  • 8:05 p.m. July 23 in the 1100 block of South State Street
  • 4:25 p.m. July 24 in the first block of North Dearborn Street
  • 8:10 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of South State Street
  • 3:20 p.m. Saturday in the first block of West Jackson Boulevard

No detailed description of the thieves was available.
