CHICAGO — Drag queens and kings will host live discussions at Berlin Nightclub during the Democratic presidential debates this week.
The performers — led by drag queen Alma — hope the Tuesday and Wednesday events will make the debates more accessible and show the intersection of politics and the LGBTQ community, according to a news release. They’ll air the debates at the famous club and lead round-table discussions with a panel of queer thinkers and performers during commercial breaks.
Alma will host the events Tuesday and Wednesday, but she’ll be joined on panels by Eve the Bunny, Abhijeet, That British Drag Queen and Irregular Girl, among others.
The Tuesday viewing party stars at 10 p.m. but the Wednesday party will start 8 p.m. at Berlin, 954 W. Belmont Ave. There’s no cover but attendees must be 21 or older with an ID.
The debates will feature 10 Democratic candidates each, with frontrunners Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on Wednesday.
