CHICAGO — Police are looking for a driver who hit and seriously injured a bicyclist and then took off Thursday near Welles Park in Lincoln Square.

At 3:10 p.m., the driver was going north on Western Avenue when he or she turned onto Montrose Avenue and hit a bicyclist, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The driver continued going west on Montrose Avenue and then turned north into an alley by Western and Artesian avenues, never stopping to help the bicyclist.

The bicyclist, a 17-year-old, was seriously injured.

The driver was in a dark-colored Lexus that had dark gray trim on its lower part, a sunroof and tinted windows, police said. Its back, passenger-side window was shattered from the crash and the door might be damaged, as well.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call police at 312-745-4521.
