CHICAGO — Bump-outs are slated to be installed at the intersection of Chase Avenue and Clark Street in Rogers Park.

Ald. Maria Hadden (49th) said in a Tuesday Facebook post Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin’s office secured a grant through the Invest in Cook program to install the bump-outs.

“Bump-outs reduce the distance a pedestrian is required to walk and increase the visibility of pedestrians in the crosswalk, making it safer to cross the street,” Hadden’s post reads.

The grant will also widen the crosswalk, increase pedestrian crossing signage in the area and treat the intersection with a decorative asphalt inlay, according to the post.
