AVONDALE — A 12-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting near the Belmont Blue Line station early Sunday, police said.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to police.
The girl was in a car driven by her father when someone in a gold-colored sedan pulled up and opened fire, striking the girl in her leg, police said. The girl’s father drove the girl to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where she is listed in good condition.
The shooting happened just minutes after an argument between the girl’s father and the gunman at a “retail establishment,” police said.
Police said it appears the girl’s father was the intended target. He was not injured in the shooting.
Police said no arrests have been made and the victim’s father has not been identified. No further information was available Monday morning.
