O’HARE AIRPORT — Three minors arriving from Mexico have been detained at O’Hare Airport for more than 12 hours by Border Patrol Agents, according to immigrant groups.

The three children were arriving at O’Hare Thursday morning at 3 a.m. when they were detained at the airport, said Laura Mendoza, an immigrant right’s organizer at the Resurrection Project.

Border Patrol agents are refusing to release them until their parents, who are undocumented, arrive, Mendoza said.

The three U.S. citizen girls are 9-, 10- and 13-years-old, according to WBEZ.

Chicago Border Patrol did not immediately return a request for comment.
