HUMBOLDT PARK — Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who hit and critically injured a Divvy bike rider in Humboldt Park late Sunday.
The hit-and-run happened around 11 p.m. in the 2600 block of West Chicago Avenue, according to police.
The Divvy bike rider, a 25-year-old woman, was westbound on Chicago Avenue when she was rear-ended by a motorist traveling in the same direction.
After rear-ending the cyclist, the driver jumped a curb before hitting a tree, according to police. The driver then fled westbound on Chicago Avenue without stopping to check on the cyclist. The woman was sent to the hospital in critical condition.
Police released photos of the car, a blue Honda, possibly a Civic, in a news release Monday evening.
The car has possible bumper, headlight and hood damage near the front on the passenger side, according to the release.
