CHICAGO — A man lured a woman away from a Downtown Red Line station by stealing her phone and then raped her early Tuesday, police said.
Between 3 and 3:40 a.m., the woman was on the Red Line platform near State and Lake streets when a man grabbed her phone and ran off, police said. The woman chased the man to the 100 block of East Randolph Street, where the man raped her and gave her back the phone.
The man left and was not in custody.
The woman was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as “stable,” police said.
An investigation was ongoing.
