HUMBOLDT PARK — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed while riding a bike in Humboldt Park Wednesday, according to police.
The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Iowa Street, police said.
The boy was riding a bike on the sidewalk when a red Hyundai drove up, two men got out and one of them opened fire, hitting the boy in the head and body, police said.
The men fled westbound on Iowa Street. The boy was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.
No one is in custody and detectives are investigating. No further information was available Wednesday evening.
Police originally said the victim was riding a scooter, but later said it was a bike.
