WICKER PARK — San Francisco-based Philz Coffee will trade fog for wind next week when it opens its first Chicago store in Wicker Park in the Wicker Park Connection apartment building.
The shop, at 1640 W. Division St. near the Division Blue Line stop, will celebrate its grand opening June 22, but Philz will offer complimentary coffee and treats to neighbors this Sunday and Monday as well as on June 21.
Philz will open 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Sunday and Monday for two “Neighborhood Days” and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 21 for a “soft opening.”
Along with coffee, the new location will offer locally sourced baked goods and freshly made foods, Philz owners said in November.
Following the opening of its Wicker Park location, Philz plans to open additional coffee shops in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park and Evanston.
Founded in 2002, Philz Coffee offers 20 customized blends of coffee made from beans from around the world.
