CHICAGO — Fire Department officials are rescuing Green Line passengers from an elevated train after it derailed Thursday in Bronzeville.

The train derailed and had to stop at about 11 a.m. near the 47th Street Station, 314 E. 47th St., said Fire spokesman Larry Merritt.

People are being evacuated from the train. Merritt said he was unsure yet how many, if any, people had to be hospitalized since the evacuation was ongoing.

The CTA said Green Line trains had been stopped between Ashland/63rd-Cottage Grove and Roosevelt due to the derailment.
