RIVER NORTH — A River North valet driver was carjacked early Tuesday — but then got into another valet car to chase down the robbers, police said.
At 12:46 p.m. Tuesday, the valet driver was in the 300 block of North State Street when two teens walked up to him and one of them took out a gun and demanded the man hand over the keys to a car, police said.
The valet driver was working outside the Tortoise Supper Club, according to CBS2.
The two teens got into a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and drove off.
The valet got into another valet car and drove after the teens while calling 911 on his cellphone, police said.
The carjackers crashed the Jeep near Illinois and Kingsbury streets, police said. The teens got out of the Jeep and ran off, but the valet and officers were able to catch them with the help of passersby.
Two teens — Treshawn Duffie, 18, and Zimmerman Flowers, 17 — were taken into custody.
Duffie has been charged with armed robbery and issuance of warrant and was scheduled to appear in Bond Court on Thursday.
Flowers has been charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated possession of a stolen car. He appeared in Juvenile Court on Wednesday.
