LOGAN SQUARE — A 35-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting not far from Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s home early Tuesday, according to police.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Schubert Avenue, a few blocks from Lightfoot’s Logan Square home.
The man told police he was walking east along Schubert Avenue when, at the mouth of an alley, a group of four or five teenage boys approached him. The man said he and the group of boys got into an argument and then someone in the group opened fire, hitting the man in his pelvis. The group ran east down Schubert.
The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
No one is in custody. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
