BACK OF THE YARDS — A crash involving a CTA bus in Back of the Yards left 11 people injured Tuesday morning, authorities said.
At 6:30 a.m., a No. 9 Ashland bus and an SUV collided in the 4100 block of South Ashland Avenue, Police spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli said.
The bus was heading north on Ashland when a southbound SUV tried to make a left turn in front of it and was hit, Bartoli said.
Seven bus passengers, including a 3-year-old girl, were taken to Stroger, Mercy, Rush and University of Illinois-Chicago hospitals, Bartoli said.
The bus driver and the 25-year-old driver of the SUV were taken to Stroger Hospital. The 25-year-old is listed in critical condition. Charges are pending, officials said.
Fire officials originally reported that 11 were hospitalized, but later revised the count to nine.
