LINCOLN PARK — There’s a new baby at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
The baby gorilla, born on Mother’s Day, hasn’t been seen by the public, though fans will be able to catch a glimpse of him later this week. He’s an endangered western lowland gorilla and doesn’t have a name yet.
The baby is joining his parents, father Kwan and mother Rollie, and sibling, Nayembi. There are also four other female gorillas in the zoo’s troop.
The Regenstein Center for African Apes will re-open to the public intermittently starting at noon Wednesday. Guests will have a chance to see the baby gorilla for the first time then.
Zoo members will have exclusive opportunities to see the baby gorilla 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday-Friday.
