Shots Fired In Gold Coast, Leading To Car Crash, Police Say

CHICAGO — One man was in custody after shots were fired early Wednesday in the Gold Coast, police said.

At 3:13 a.m., officers were called to the 300 block of West Erie Avenue because shots had been fired, police said. A witness told officers people from two cars got into an argument, leading to the gunfire.

Officers saw someone in a white car driving away onto the feeder ramp leading to the Kennedy Expy., police said. The driver crashed on the expressway and two men in the car got out and tried to run away.

One man was taken into custody and charges were pending. Another man got away from police.

While investigating, officers got into an argument with a man in another car and that man was placed into custody, police said. Charges were pending.

State Police were investigating the crash on the expressway. No one was hit by the gunfire.

The Ohio Street feeder ramp was temporarily closed during the investigation but reopened at 4:46 a.m., police said.
