CHICAGO — A baby boy found abandoned in an alley near a Hermosa firehouse on Tuesday is doing better after initially being listed in critical condition, officials said.
The baby was found about 4 p.m. on top of a garbage can in an alley near the firehouse, 1747 N. Pulaski Road, said Fire Dept. spokesman Larry Merritt. Someone passing by saw the infant and brought him to the fire station.
The baby was treated and hospitalized, Merritt said.
The boy’s status was originally listed as “very critical,” but officials said in a tweet his condition stabilized. Merritt said the baby was “critical but stable” when taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital.
“The little guy is crying and kicking …,” Fire officials said in a tweet.
