CHICAGO — A South Side viaduct’s railing and pieces of concrete broke off Tuesday, sending concrete across the street and leading to a Skyway closure.
The damage happened early Tuesday at a viaduct over East 87th Street near the Skyway. A Skyway exit was temporarily closed and the CTA’s 87th Street buses temporarily rerouted as rubble was in the road.
No one was reported hurt by the falling rubble, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The viaduct belongs to Norfolk Southern Railway, and the company will be responsible for fixing it, said Susan Hofer, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Department of Transportation.
