BUCKTOWN — The 15th annual Bucktown Garden Walk — scheduled for mid-July — is fast approaching, and event organizers need your help recruiting gardeners.

The Bucktown Community Organization is looking for volunteers to canvas their blocks in an effort to recruit gardeners.

Volunteers have two chances to pick up official Bucktown Garden Walk outreach materials:

  • 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Goddess and Grocer, 1649 N. Damen Ave. Drinks will be provided.
  • 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Red June Cafe, 2020 N. Leavitt St. Coffee will be provided.

Want to help out, but can’t make it to either of this week’s events? RSVP here.

For more information, contact Meredith Flagstad of the Bucktown Community Organization by email at garden@bucktown.org.

The annual garden walk will take place Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14.

During the event, members of the public embark on self-guided tours of the personal green spaces curated by participating Bucktown residents, Flagstad said.

“We walk past so many homes with unique and elaborate gardens every day without really knowing what’s tucked away behind their façades,” she said. “The Bucktown garden walk was started for just that reason.”

A block party will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Churchill Field Park, 1825 N. Damen Ave. Garden walks will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

The Garden Walk Brochure, which includes discounts to local businesses and restaurants, costs $10 and can be purchased at Churchill Park, Club Lucky, Ispento or Lottie’s Pub.

A $5 donation is suggested for entrance to block party.
