IRVING PARK — Sabatino’s, the fine-dining Italian restaurant that served its last meals to much fanfare on Dec. 23 after 49 years, has officially been sold to a developer.

GW Properties, a firm specializing in retail properties, finalized its purchase of the shuttered restaurant at 4441 W. Irving Park Rd. on April 5.

What will become of the site remains unclear.

A sign recently installed in the parking lot only says the lot — which could be sold in sizes ranging from 25,000 to 62,500 square feet — could be used as a “development opportunity.”

GW Properties is primarily focused on the retail developments, according to his its website. A representative from the company was not available for comment.

In August, Brothers Enzo and Angelo Pagni announced the sale of Sabatino’s, saying they were ready to retire.
