LOGAN SQUARE — The Old Plank, a new sports bar from prolific restauranteur/bar owner Esam Hani, opens to the public 7 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release.
The new bar at 2700 N. Milwaukee Ave., offers a menu of Tex-Mex staples including tacos, sandwiches and queso dip. The drink menu focuses on “easy-drinking” beer, tequila and whiskey, according to the release.
Though named after the street’s history (Milwaukee Avenue was called Old Plank Road back in the 1800s), the new bar has the feel of a modern sports bar. It’s outfitted with an abundance of TVs for sports viewing and garage-style doors to let fresh air in during warm months.
“The Old Plank will be that local neighborhood destination where you can grab some great food and drinks, while catching a sports game and listening to some live entertainment,” Hani said in a previous news release.
A grand opening party is planned for 4-7 p.m. Thursday. Those who RSVP online will get two free drinks and free food.
The Old Plank, which took over Parts & Labor’s spot, is Hani’s seventh establishment on the block. The Logan Square-based operator owns Café Con Leche, De Noche Mexicana, The Harding Tavern, Red Star Liquor, The Walk-In and Saba.
