Catalytic Converters Stolen 6 Times In April In Uptown, Edgewater, Police Say

The most recent theft happened last week in the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue, police said.

CHICAGO — Catalytic converters are being stolen from cars in on the Far North Side, police said.

The thefts happened six times in April in Edgewater and Uptown, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The thief or thieves went underneath the cars and cut and removed the catalytic converters.

The thefts occurred:

  • 8 p.m. April 12-2:30 p.m. April 14 in the 5600 block of North Kenmore Avenue
  • 9 p.m. April 12-10 a.m. April 14 in the 5800 block of North Kenmore Avenue
  • 8 a.m. April 12-6 p.m. April 16 in the 900 block of West Carmen Avenue
  • 11 a.m. April 13-2:30 p.m. April 20 in the 5100 block of North Marine Drive
  • Noon April 14 in the 5000 block of North Marine Drive
  • 11 p.m. April 23-9 a.m. April 24 in the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue

No description of the thief or thieves was available.
