WEST TOWN — In response to worries about increased violence in the area, Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) and officers from the Chicago Police Department’s Shakespeare District (14th) will meet neighbors at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pulaski Park, 1419 W. Blackhawk St.
The meeting follows a Beat 1433 outdoor roll call that took place early Sunday evening in the 1400 block of North Bosworth Avenue. (That’s the block where neighbors reporting hearing gunfire on Easter).
Resident Jonathan Zuluaga, who attended Sunday’s roll call and will attend Monday’s meeting, told Block Club Chicago he and his neighbors have recently found shell casings on the ground.
“With so many schools and parks close to Bosworth and Blackhawk, a lot of families are scared about the uptick in violence,” he said.
