AVONDALE — Anyone passing by Kuma’s Corner for the past few days may have seen a crew ripping up the restaurant’s rear patio.

No worries, the rubble is temporary and should be gone by next week.

“We’re just leveling off our patio for the season and putting in new cement. It was getting all crackly,” said Sam Cangelosi, manager at Kuma’s. “We’re hoping to get it all done by next week. All they have to do is rip it up and lay cement and we’re good to go.”

The restaurant at 2900 W. Belmont Ave. will be open throughout the renovation.

“Right now we’re looking at our next ticket giveaway next week and we’re hoping to bring back our vinyl DJ nights,” Cangelosi said.

“And once that patio’s open again, it is going to be really nice.”
