CHICAGO — Dozens of puppies, kittens, cats and dogs will be up for adoption at PAWS Chicago this weekend.

PAWS, the city’s largest no-kill animal shelter, is hosting its Spring Adopt-a-Thon on Saturday and Sunday. That means the shelter’s Lincoln Park Adoption Center will have extended hours and would-be owners can come in to meet pets.

The pets need homes because more animals are at risk of being put down during this time of year because “so many” litters are born in the spring, according to a PAWS news release.

“By rallying the community and generating more adoptions, PAWS can take in and save more dogs and cats from high-risk shelters,” according to PAWS. “When you adopt a pet from a No Kill animal shelter or rescue organization, you are saving two lives — the pet you adopt and another pet who can take his place.”

The Adopt-a-Thon is 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday at PAWS’ Lincoln Park Adoption Center, 1997 N. Clybourn Ave.

Information about adopting from PAWS is available online.
